An old story that still holds up

Harry the Dirty Dog is a story about how sometimes we have to do things that we don't like. Harry doesn't like to take baths, so he hides his bath scrub brush and runs away from home. Even though he has a fun adventure for a while, he misses his home and eventually does what he needs to do for his family.

I think this story is fun for kids who don't feel like they have a lot of control over their daily life. For kids who have a hard time understanding why they have to do certain jobs or chores - they will relate to Harry and understand how he feels.

The illustrations are not very colorful, but I kind of like them in the earth tones they use. Plus they are a fun, retro style that you don't see as much anymore. (I'm sure at the time the book was first published they weren't considered retro! ;)
