"Leaves sail through the air like lazy mariposas gliding on warm gusts and breezes onto my hair." A book of poetry written in both English and Spanish.

Okay, but not much Spanish really

This book of poetry is a good idea in theory, mixing English and Spanish into one book so kids can get the idea that there are people out there that speak differently then they do. But the poems themselves are fairly uninspired and in order to even know what some of the Spanish words they add in you have to flip to the glossary in the back of the book. Somehow I thought that with poetry, the description should be clear enough that you should get the idea of what the word is even if you don't know exactly what it is. I do have to give it credit for the beautiful chalk illustrations by Enrique O. Sanchez. |
